๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง Reintegration & Family Reunification
At Dorothea Rescue Centre, reintegration is the final and most important step in a childโs journey toward healing and independence. Our goal is to ensure that every girl is not only rescued and rehabilitated, but also safely reunited with her family and successfully reintegrated into society.
๐ Family Tracing & Assessment
Reintegration begins with a careful and thorough family tracing process conducted by our social workers.
This involves:
- Identifying and locating family members
- Conducting home visits
- Assessing the safety and stability of the home environment
- Engaging parents/guardians in discussions and counselling
Only families that can provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment are considered for reintegration.
๐ค Family Preparation & Counselling
Before reunification, both the child and the family go through a preparation process.
This includes:
- Counselling sessions for parents/guardians
- Guidance on child care, protection, and responsibility
- Conflict resolution and rebuilding relationships
- Emotional preparation for both the child and family
This step ensures that reintegration is stable and long-lasting, not temporary.
๐ก Gradual Reunification Process
Reintegration is done gradually to allow smooth adjustment.
Steps may include:
- Supervised visits between the child and family
- Short home stays (trial visits)
- Continuous monitoring by social workers
This approach helps rebuild trust and strengthens family bonds.
๐ Continued Education Support
Even after reintegration, Dorothea Rescue Centre remains actively involved in the childโs life.
We provide:
- School enrollment and placement
- Payment of school fees (where possible)
- Provision of uniforms and learning materials
- Ongoing academic follow-up
This ensures that the child continues her education without interruption.
๐ Community Integration
Beyond the family, the child is supported to adjust back into the wider community.
This includes:
- Encouraging positive social relationships
- Supporting participation in school and community activities
- Promoting confidence and independence
The goal is to help each girl feel accepted, valued, and empowered in society.
๐ Follow-Up & Monitoring
Our responsibility does not end after reunification.
Social workers conduct:
- Regular home visits
- School follow-ups
- Ongoing counselling and support
This helps ensure the child remains safe, stable, and progressing well.
๐ Our Commitment
We are committed to restoring not just the child, but the familyโcreating a strong foundation where every girl can grow, learn, and thrive within her community.
